Saddam Hussein was president of Iraq, from July 16, 1979 to 9 April 2003, when he was removed from his job during the war in Iraq led by the United States.
The war between Iran and Iraq lasted from September 22nd 1980 to the 20th August 1988. The war is also called the Persian Gulf War or the forced war. The war was about the dominance of the Arabian Gulf region. A successor of this war is Iraq-Kuwait conflict known as the second Gulf War.
